Hillary Searle Online Reputation

Dear Hillary,

Online reputation has become an important thing in these modern times. Just last week I watched my boss Google and Facebook search each job applicant and choose interviewees based on what he found.

In researching your online reputation I had little problem finding information.
On Facebook I found you have had a good education. I learned you have plans to graduate Utah State in 2011, you went to Dixie State in 2009 and graduated Spanish Fork High School in 2008. I also found some more personal information. You were born October 22 in Spanish Fork and are a Latter-day Saint. I feel that this info is good to have out in the open, although birthday and religion are more personal, future employers will be impressed by your years of education.

As far as activities and interests I have found you love sports and people. I also have found you to have a good sense of humor and be excited about life. Your favorite shows are 24, The Office and So You Think You Can Dance.

I have also found that you really like your friends. You have 606 friends on Facebook. This tells me you are probably easy to get along with. The thing I would caution against with this though is everyone can see your wall on Facebook so make sure to watch what your friends post on it.

I found a twitter account in your name that had never been used. As you start a career in PR you may want to use that more often so employers see that you know how to use social media effectively.

On your blog I found very little information about you personally. The work samples are good but you may want to put a short bio and your career goals in the profile area, doing this would give your blog a more personalized feel.

All in all I would say you have a good reputation online. I found a lot of pictures and information about you but none of it was scandalous. If I were a future employer I would be impressed and also know that you are social and have a sense of humor. The only suggestion I would make is to create a professional blog or website that has an organized sample of your work, your resume, your career goals and that type of information. Overall grade for online reputation, I would give you an A-.
